AZ Photo Friday - April 4th, 2014 - Lube It And Crank It Edition

In the lube thread we all learned how to lube our bike, now it's time to go out and crank it.

This week I submitted some photos to a few bike-related contests.

Nice snaps Gill, time to start getting some new ones of Dag though....

Last weekend Larry and I completed the Salty-Gila Tour, fan-freakin-tastic loop if I do say so myself, but I knew that going in.

    Some greenbelt...

    Some canal...

Some pavement (no pic needed), then finally some singletrack - lots of singletrack!!

    Some issues...

    Some RADness???

    Some views...

    Some tight squeezes...

    Some unexpected relief...

    Some wildflowers...

    Some killer riding...

    Some wildlife...

Some luck...WOW! Led to some night riding...

    Some trail magic...

    Some trail hazards...

    Some HAB...

Some search & rescue the following day...

    Some ride!!!

I need a real camera. In the mean time, here are a few quick shots from BCT. Lube? I hit it dry.

I got nothing this week except for some backyard hummingbird action. The top side:

    The under side:

    The winning shot:

    Diving in for dinner!

All shots were hand-held with my Canon 5D Mark III, 400mm L lens, and 2x extender.

Family ride from Chaparral Park to OHSO. Psyched my 8yo can just knock out a 10 mile flat ride pretty much anytime.

Oh man I saw bird pics so I am totally in this week. Hardly any riding still down here for this Tucson'ion but I have been getting plenty of bird shots.

Did manage to get a few with the wife on her bike.

Then it was down to Madera Canyon for some birding.

Nice birding shots! What camera/lens combo are you using?

Camera is a Nikon D7100 and the lens is just the cheepo starter 55-300mm f/5.6 ($400). Really want a nice fixed 300mm lens but they are just so pricey.

nowhere near as pretty as yuz guyz's shots, but it makes up for it in volume. This was January in Costa Rica.

MtnRdr - That third shot is pretty sweet, even if I'm still partial to the second.

freeskier - I'll definitely take some of that. I'm ready to be photogenic as I can be.

Nice bird shots all! I'll get to dust my camera off for real pretty soon. Enough of this muscle building and canal cruising! I need AZT injected into my veins!

Thanks, I picked the 2nd shot to submit since it's got more rider action. BTW, that 3rd shot cost me my bike frame. A gust of wind knocked it over on those rocks and put a dent in the top tube. Three months later the dent developed into a 1" crack, it's the frame Raybum took home a few weeks ago.

Really awesome shots this week, those bird shots are way cool.

I got to screwing around with my tripod.

Found some little people down at Sonoran the other week too.

I hadn't been out there in a while, so imagine my surprise when I find a full trailhead out at the east end.
