    Arizona Vacation!

    Hey guys/gals,
The week of December 18-22 I'm going to be in Arizona with my girlfriend, celebrating her graduation and getting a change of scenery. Anyways, we're both bringing our (road) bikes, and I'm also bringing my MTB (SS and not afraid to climb).

I know it's a general question, but can you guys recommend some stellar riding in your fine state? And if any of you folk also dabble in the road cycling, recommendations of that kind are also encouraged.

We don't have any specific base camp set up. We're just gonna flow with it, and go wherever the trip takes us.

    Thanks much!
    Nick

PS- I also posted this on the roadbikereview.com forums, but this one seems to get quite a bit more attention...and I'd love to roll my tires on some nice AZ dirt, so I figured I'd post here too!

Yep... I saw that about 2 seconds after I posted. But thanks for the help and recommendations nonetheless.

What city are you staying in?

There's tons of god riding in and around Phoenix. Goat Camp (the xc version) would be one to hit if riding a SS. Most of the really good rides are in remote areas and it would not be wise to ride them without a partner.

Prescott and Sedona also has some great places to ride but will be cooler than Phoenix.

I'll be getting in to Phoenix late on the 18th. I'll probably ride National on the 19th, then head up to my Mom's place in Prescott Valley. I haven't done any riding there, but I hear granite basin is the place to go around there. I'll probably be there a day or two before heading out to San Diego to ride Noble Canyon (used to live there and really, really miss that ride). Then, probably back through Phoenix, maybe another stop to ride National (the park is right behind my sister's house). Then back to PV....

Of course, I'll be riding my X-5...so not too sure we'd be looking at the same types of rides....

    Hey Monkeybutt,
Can you tell me a little bit more about Goat Camp? What's the deal with the xc version versus the rest of the park? Is it the climbs or the decents? Also, is there somewhere online that I can find a trail map of this place, or can you recommend a killer loop? I'm looking to get in a good 20-30 miles on the trail, with lots of climbing hopefully.

    Thanks much!
    Nick
