Arizona Road Trip and Tent Camping

Instead of Moab this spring break, my family and I are going to do an Arizona roadtrip. Can anyone suggest a good guidebook for the state or some of your favorite camping areas? Thanks.

Any gazetteer that has BLM maps in it. So much BLM land in Arizona, you should be able to camp for free wherever you go.

Buy the Cosmic Ray book its a must have classic that will give you the standard stuff in most areas then look to the web for more local beta. If you are coming to Tucson there are trail descriptions at the SDMB site http://www.sdmb.org/

If you want to tent camp in a pay CG with water and restrooms there is Gilbert Ray in the Tucson Mountains it's practically urban camping and you could zip into Tucson anytime. There are tons of places to camp out on Forest Service Land, Gardner Canyon and Kentucky Camp area riding would be a good base for dry camping.
Singin' I love hike a bike!!!

    Check the state website

if you plan on using State Parks, they are closing most of them because of budget cuts. Dumb idea if you ask me, I have heard they bring in more money to the economy than the cost. If you are headed down to the Tucson area, check out TucsonMTB.com

Gravity, not just a good idea, it's a law.
The only one consistently and constantly applied, no exceptions.
