Bicyclist injured in Tempe collision with car

An intoxicated bicyclist was injured Sunday afternoon when he pulled in front of a car at Rural Road and Apache Boulevard, Tempe police said.

The adult male on the bicycle left the Chevron station on the southwestern corner of the intersection and was struck by a car traveling on Apache, said police spokesman Charles Cobbs.

"The biker appeared to be heavily intoxicated," Cobbs said. He was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, he added.

Names of bicyclist and the car's driver were not immediately available. Cobbs said the investigation is continuing, and that the cyclist might be charged with failure to yield.

I don"t normally post on topics like this but this one struck a nerve.

This is just a request to check your joking perspective there brothermen. I lived in Tabernash, Colorado, 8 miles from where this [ Killdozer Helicopter News Footage - YouTube ] went down. This cat did fab work on my Suburban.

The town of Granby learned the hard way that it is easy to laugh at the idiot who crashes while transporting his case of beer on the handlebars of a bike- there were stories of this guy showing those signs of needing help. It takes a special person to see the big picture of someone who might have needed the proper human touch instead of scorn, or even apathy, to keep them from going off the deep end.

KB, I get that you were joking, but you were joking about a matter that is no joke to lots of people. I'm not saying that some jack-hole didn't deserve his "carma" but there are many sides to one story.

    Thanks for considering this,
