    2018 Flagstaff trail closures

FWPP Phase 1 thinning is set to re-start again on Monday July 16th. The contractor will start in unit 1 which is the easternmost unit along the base of Elden Mtn.

Forces of Nature will be closed.
Pipeline Trail will be closed from the Oldham Junction to the East.
Entrances from E. Appalachian and E. Skyline will be closed.

Not a big deal really unless your doing an 'Around Elden Loop' but more closures will be on the way as the contractor moves further north and then west to the units affecting Lower Oldham, Rocky Ridge and Schultz Creek trails.

Thanks man, as always, for the PSA. Let's hook up for a root beer some day in the next two weeks.....which is exactly the amount of time I will remain unemployed.

hi i'm not from around, somebody recommend me:
ask wife nicely to drive me up to elden, then ride sunset trail, schultze creek downhill
and also wasabi and red onion.

will these remain doable or closed off? thanks!

The road is open and no closures planned for any of those trails anytime soon. Have fun!

Interesting. I talked to the Timber Sale Contracting Officer for 4FRI and they don't have an operating schedule. The Orion task order which affects the other side of Schultz Pass Rd (affecting Dogfoods, AZ trail, Easter Island, etc) might ramp up this fall but more likely it will get pushed back until next fall (2019).

Those guys on L. Gnarly were probably just poking around and maybe checking the rain sensor? They're calling the 3+ inches over upper Schultz/Dry Lakes on Sunday a 100 yr event. Not sure what they're calling the 6" that fell today on one of the Waterline Rd sensors. Maybe that's questionable data but impressive if it verifies.

Not really a trail closure...but a road closure. Excessive rains and flooding requires Schultz Pass Road to close until the debris can be removed.

Too...Much...Rain. Portions of Waterline Road have had over 11 inches of rain in the past two weeks.

Sunset is the shiznat but Little Bear is another one. My favorite ride right now is Upper Sunset to Little Bear but you do have a bit of a climb to come back up and around on to get up to Shultz Pass.

No trail closures but watch out for heavy equipment in the Chimney Springs area. The Nature Conservancy is thinning near Moto trail atm.

The contractor has moved into cutting units 12 and 13. Rocky Ridge is closed. Shultz Creek trail is still open for now.
