Ughh. I'm not ready to dodge snakes yet! Crazy it's in the mid 80's already.......In February. Oh well, maybe this year I won't let the little bastards bother me

Yup, I heard one buzz next to the new Esplanada trail out at Phx Sonoran Preserve North on Sunday (one of the new flat trails north east of the Apache Wash trail head).

    Nice pic LHM!!!

Snakes in Arizona when it gets warm is like snow in Alaska when it gets cold.

So, it's getting warm and these dangerous yet pretty creatures are waking up. I suspect it won't stay 80º for long so will they go back to sleep for a while when it cools back off? Or are they up for the summer?

I'm pretty sure I heard that snake rattling when I rode by that same spot today about 1:00 p.m. Never saw him though. Top of the short, steep hill right after you start heading East from the 4-Way?

he was right across the trail maybe around... 4pm? he crawled under a big rock next to the saguaro
you could tell he was pretty sluggish at the current temp.

it's pretty shaky cause i was zooming

Nice. I guess I need to start strapping on the GoPro every time I go out.

Saw this bastard pre-riding 24HOP. Almost mistaken him for a cow.

Saw 2 at Phoenix Sonoran Preserve (North) Mtn on Friday. May have yelped like a little girl when the first one sneaked up on me. Second one was a rattling like you read about. Just gotta ride faster

Found a friend at Gold Canyon today--right at the bottom of a wash on Mohave. He was at the edge of the trail. I did not see him and rode ride past, and then I heard the rattle. As I went back to take pictures he was not moving out of the trail. And if my wife asks, I was using a telephoto lens to take the picture.

Also, for the second time in one week I came face-to-face with a coyote walking towards me on the trail. Normally I just see them off in the distance.
