xopst: Clipless shoes w/ buckle ? @ extra strap

For those of you who use clipless shoes with buckles, do you generally clip off any extra length of nylon strap that shows through the buckle or just leave it? Considering buying my first pair of buckled shoes and was just curious what the common practice was. Thanks.

As long as you don't cut it too short and make sure the end is cut well (so it can go back thru the ratcheting mechanism easily), shouldn't be a problem. I've done it on a couple shoes in the past (gave up on the ratcheting buckles, Sidis in particular, always needed readjusting sometime during the ride, use laced/velcro Lake shoes now).
