Why are ProTec helmets so hard to get?

I've been trying to get their Ace helmet in charcoal XL for the last few months with no luck. The sites which sell them don't have a good selection and there are no retailers in my area. (according to ProTec's website)

What gives? Are they having production problems which limits what they're making? I ordered a Large in December but it was too tight. The place I bought it from didn't have an XL to trade so I just got a refund. This shouldn't be so difficult.

Maybe you just have a huge dome?

Maybe they have to gather all of the extra materials to make the helmet

They make bike helmets. It's not specified what type of biking they are for.

Even if that was a consideration ProTec has had ample time to consolidate enough plastic to make me a hat. What's the delay?

    Some info...

We normally do not get our Pro-Tec helmets directly from Pro-Tec. It is easier to throw them on orders from QBP. Also, many companies that sell thru suppliers have fairly inaccurate dealer locator listings because if you aren't buying dealer direct, they don't have a full list of stocking dealers.

So here is what QBPcurrently has...

They are not showing an Ace helmet.

They do show an Ace SXP, and they have those in stock in XL Gunmetal Grey. (QBP part # HE9851.)

They also have a B2 SXP XL Gloss Charcoal in stock. (QBP part # HE9861.)

They show the classic in the XL Charcoal as out of stock. No more due in until (estimated delivery date) October 19th! (QBP part # HE9811)

All of these helmets list XL as fitting 59-60 cm. heads.

So any shop that deals with QBP should be able to order one of them for you Monday if one of these fit your needs.

Hope this helps...Have a great weekend!

Suggestion: Go to a kayak shop. That's where I got mine (which I use for surf kayaking).

no need to seek special shops, cfrone nailed it. go to virtually any shop, ask them what colors/sizes of protec helmets qbp has in stock. pick one you like. done.
