What cheap protective shades do you like?

I typically break, scratch or lose my bike glasses at least once a year so I don't like spending more than $50 on them. Ideally I'd like something with about 40% light transmission since I ride mostly tight shaded single track.

    Any recommendations?

I am using the limar F70PH, and it's a keeper! long before oakley sensationalized "prizm" which is basically photochromic lens, this one already uses that kind of lens.

I like the way the lens adapt to the level of lighting that is present inside the trail.

I don't like wearing shades (sunglasses) when I ride because the trails I frequent have a good stretch of shaded areas and with sunglasses, it can get pretty tough to see. I picked up a pair of Scattante clear glasses at Performance on sale for $29.99.

Got tired of scratching up my $150 Oakleys so I got these $9.99 glasses from Tractor Supply.Smith & Wesson Equalizer Glasses, Red Frame with Amber Lens - For Life Out Here

Amber lens is not too dark for the woods, they offer UV protection and they are impact resistant. I've been wearing them for over a year now and I have no issue with them. They don't look too bad either. They have gray lens too and if you want darker, they offer true sunglasses.

Dual eyewear makes great non-prescription shades. Bonus, they offer bifocal options!

Check out some of the shooting safety glasses. They all have good protection, impact resistant, and many have interchangeable lenses. They are lightweight in general and are designed to fit under hearing protection which should work under your helmet. My Smith and Wessons were only 10 a pair, plenty cheap enough to have spares.
    Just enjoy the ride...

Thanks for this! Was debating getting some clear lenses for my oakley's. The S&W's mentioned above seem like a much cheaper option. Plus I won't be bummed if I go OTB and mess them up.

I started wearing eye protection after I got a Corneal abrasion. That sucked so much lol. I grabbed some cheapo clear lens shades from ebay and they worked out ok. Anything is better than nothing in my opinion after that corneal abrasion

I wear these, very comfortable and good amount of light transmission. I've used $10 safety glasses but go through a pair once a month or so as they get scratched so easy, had these for 4 months and still going strong: MORR Protective Gear | eyewear for outdoor sports | MOZARRT Z50 brown lenses, mocha frame | MORR sunglasses

I wound up picking up some Bobster Rattler glasses on Amazon for $27. I like the way they fit and look, but the photochromatic doesn't really work. Would have been nice because I have about a mile ride to get the trail, but not a deal breaker and I didn't have high hopes for $27.

Next time around I'll probably go with some shooting glasses

The NASCAR branded safety glasses work for me. Also work with the POC helmet

I wear my Oakleys almost all the time but the few times a year when I want clear lenses...I have a couple pairs of safety glasses I think I got at Walmart a few years ago. They are a little nicer, came with a soft bag and have rubber ear pieces but I doubt I paid more than $10 for them.

    Bollè Sidewinder's.
Work nicely under or over helmet straps.

For cheap shades I'll wear Neff Dailies. Not mtb specific, but I dig the style and they're like $10-$20 depending on the color combo.
