    unpadded/padded (lyrcra users only)

Do you run unpadded or padded cycling shorts?

i personally have never felt real pain in my ass after a ride until yesterday when i went on a road ride.

i have a pair of spandex tights for this winter and i do not ride with pads but i figure if im shopping for shorts, i may as well get everyone elses opinion

if there is another thread on this, please direct me to it because i didnt find one on this forum.

I have some padded, some unpadded - still with a soft synthetic material to prevent chafing. For short rides, I sometimes prefer not having additional padding. For long rides and races, I like the extra comfort a high end chamois provides.
When under pressure, your level of performance will sink to your level of preparation.

I always ride with a quality chamois lycra shorts with shorts over it. If I'm riding my road bike, then it is just the lycra shorts itself.

Cause I'd rather tear a cheap short than my $70 lycra shorts.

Depends on how it's worded. They make Chamois Butt'r "cream", but an actual chamois is the padding in the shorts.

One of the many reasons quoting the post you are replying to is a good practice.
