    Universal Helmet Mount

    Further to my Pipe Light
http://forums.mtbr.com/showthread.ph...85#post4633985 I have been asked by a couple of my riding buddies who have my pipe lights for a better helmet mount with better adjustment.

Trying to keep in the same vain as being able to source the parts from Home Depot etc and not needing special tools I have come up with this simple yet effective design.
    http://forums.mtbr.com/attachment.ph...1&d=1278033985

Parts required are piece of black PVC pipe, piece of angle aluminum, a bolt and locking nut and two washers. The aluminum is cut and shaped with hacksaw and file, the slot for the velcro strap is done with a dremel.
To hold the Pipe Light or any other type and size of housing flashlight etc the size of the plastic pipe is chosen to fit. A 3/4" slot is cutout of the plastic pipe to allow the Pipe Light to snap into place but with an old piece of inner tube to give it some grip.
Underneath the base is some soft foam rubber from an old mouse pad to prevent it slipping on the plastic of the helmet.

The new mounting has just been tested at 24 hours of Summer Solstice Race in the rain and it performed admirably.

Very simple solution there. Perfect match for the pipe lights.

It does somewhat but without your superb machining and anodizing.
In fact The original "L" bracket I copied was that of my old TurboCats.

I was trying to figure out how to hold the light without penetrating the case when the plastic pipe idea came to me.

The fact that it will accept my bar light as well means I can switch if need to in case of emergency or during a race. This indeed happened at the weekend race I had a battery pack fail so was able to quickly take the bar light off and put it on my helmet very quickly. Trying to do switch backs with only a bar light is terrible you cannot see where you need to go!
