    Socks

My teammate and I wrote a review about some new socks we have been trying out. Icebreaker. They are great. If you would like to read it the address is:

Is there a company out there that makes a wool, MTB specific, mid calf sock? Thanks for the help.

What makes a sock "MTB specific"? What features are you really looking for?

To be honest with you.. I don't know. But there are so many fricken' options for socks out there:
    Hike
    Bike
    Sport
    Mountaineer
    Run
    Walking

I'm sure the list goes on. Bike socks (however they're different, I don't know) are usually ankle length. But what I'd like is a Mid Calf Wool sock that ideally would be cut or manufactured with biking in mind. Sure, I can keep buying the same socks I already buy, but if I could support a company I like, or find some reason to believe some marketing scam, or even just make it easier for me by having them labeled "Biking"... It might be easier for me to find in the store.

Smartwool makes the best socks in my opinion. They wash well and always feel like new when you put them on your feet. The only downside I guess is that they're a bit pricey. 16.50 a pop is pretty expensice but they do last a long time. I get the cycling version with the ultra light cushion.

+1 for Smartwool. I use these, but if you want a longer sock, they make a crew length with the same "light padding" here.

Yup, SmartWool PhD Light cycling socks are probably my favorites. They make them in a crew length as well as the high ankle length. They are expensive, but worth it IMO unlike a few other synthetic cycling socks I've tried that cost more.

I've also got a couple pair of the Endura BaaBaa socks that are about half the price of the SmartWool. They're nice for hotter weather, but don't seem like they will hold up as well as the SmartWool has.
