    Shorts with hip pads?

Any recommendations for spandex shorts with hip pads? DH has had a rash of falls on one hip, with a resulting "alien child" size hematoma (it's going down finally) and needs to wear something with a good hip pad for a bit.

Alternately, if there is material available that would be suitable for a hip pad insert, I could add those to existing shorts.......

I don't have any recommendations for spandex shorts. But for DH, I just have the TLD padded shorts that I wear under my moto shorts. Works great for me, although crashing still hurts, just a little less.

Not the cheapest answer, but I've been using the POC VPD 2.0 shorts for a good while and love the extra protection.

Both excellent recommendations, although he might be partial to the POC shorts. He just got knee and elbow pads with VPD, so hip pads would be a trifecta.

How about a football girdle? They can be found pretty cheap and have decently thick pads.

I picked up some hip protection liners from Zoic. Good fit and and I don't remember any crash injuries which gives me the impression that it works well enough given the frequency I find myself on the dirt.

I use the TLD ones and have since tested their efficiency and they work great. I've also had the alien sized hematoma on my hip before from a bad stack, hence why I bought these shorts and a padded TLD cause of the ribs I also broke.
