Shoes: With Buckle or Without Buckle (Velcro)

I have Specialized Comp MTB shoes now and they are not fitting right anymore. Plus the buckle sucks on these shoes. I know they upgraded the buckle on the newer versions. Question, is the buckle any better than 3 velcro straps?

    Buckle on shoes???

well i have had both...my sidi's were just velcro but i felt they were hard on my feet...so i switched to a Pearl Izumi...well the pearl are the best feeling shoe i have ever had....i actually enjoy havin them on! ok back to the buckle...well they have a buckle and the first week out i had a mishap and the buckle got bent....grrrrrrr....the velcro straps on the sidi were bomb proof....so in some ways the more gadgets there is the more chance for something to break...i wish these pearls i own came with just velcro....so thats my take...first go for comfort, then effieciency....bummer because its hard to get out and try all those mtn bike shoes on.

I have buckles on my Adidas mtb shoes and just velcro on my Adidas road shoes. I kinda wish I had just velcro on both. On occasion the buckle gets hit and loosened. Easy enough to reach down and tighten but a bit of a pain...
