    Seal Skinz Socks

Need something to keep my feet warm and dry in the winter. I've seen these mentioned here and there, can anyone give me some info?

Mid Weight Mid Length Sock - Black : SealSkinz™ Waterproof & Thermal Socks
Thick Mid Length Sock - Black : SealSkinz™ Thermal & Waterproof Socks

    - Are they worth the cost?

    - How long does the waterproofing last?

    - How durable are they?

    - Anyone have any temp ranges for the mid weight and thick weight? Leaning toward thick weight but would like some beta.

    - Any better products

    Thanks!

I would not wear the seal skins to ride...they make UR feet sweet and they get cold. I use Storm Kloth, they work great, and R sort of water proof. Along with neoprene booties....all is well...

I've got the mid weight knee high versions and they are great for the conditions we have here at the moment (cold, wet and muddy). kept my feet warm and dry with no overheating issue.

I tried a pair for snowbiking in 20F temps, and they were terrible. My feet perspired a great deal, and became very cold. Nothing better than wool socks for what I like to do.

If it's cold and raining, I wear rain pants. They are "breathable" but I still have problems with sweat buildup running down my legs, into my shoes. And then cold wet feet. The sealskins keep the sweat from going UNDER the socks; it goes over the socks, into the boot. So water still builds up, but not directly next to your skin (it's outside the socks, but inside your boots). So your feet stay warmer.
