    Recommend Shoes?

I wear nike trail-running sneakers while I ride (I know, I know, I'm just starting out...). They work OK in dry riding, but this weekend it was a little wet. I ended up stepping in a deep puddle, so my foot got soaked and the sneaker became heavy and cold. I also found the wet rocks were slippery.

Can anyone recommend a shoe for platform pedals that might be better?

Do people wear the 'clip-less' shoes with platform pedals?

Clipless shoes are generally only used with clipless pedals. There are some exceptions to this, five ten makes a couple shoes that can be used with both.

I ride with Five Ten Freerider shoes and Blackspire Sub 4 pedals. Lots of grip in all situations.

People are gonna scream "search" about this thread so be warned.

I just got back into riding myself so I needed everything. I tried on a pair of these Bontrager shoes and they felt really good. After 7 rides I am happy with them.

    Bontrager: SSR Multisport (Model #10989)

What pedals are you using with them?

Good question I am in a bit of a transition, for the moment I have whatever stock pedals came with my new Carve. Hopefully by this weekend I will have my new bike and I have two sets of pedals to check out.

I wear Merrells and ride flats. They stick like a tick to my Answer Roves, highly water resistant, gore tex, almost indestructible, stiffest sole ever and they are multi-use. Great for hiking, wearing around town etc. All for 89 dollars, my girlfriend uses Keen shoes and they seem to work out just fine as well.

Perhaps the Pearl Izumi X-Alp WRX would solve your problem. They are water resistant and based on PI's trail runner, plus they take standard 2 bolt cleats if/when you go clipless

Yes I spent too much on bikes.
