Put yourself in Ariel Sharons shoes. Would you want to be kept alive?

Massive stroke.... But we may be able to keep him alive...

Everyone knows the reality. Even if he can survive, he is never going to be able to do anything more than be wheeled around in a wheel chair and groan a few sounds.

Isn't this episode looking more and more like "cruel and unusual" punishment?

OH, I know, you've seen Dick Clark on New Years Eve.
Well, guess what, Dick Clark had the typical stroke, not a cerebal hemmorage.
Clark had a blockage, not massive prolonged bleeding.

A vital and intelligent man like Sharon is, at best, going to be reduced to a drooling lump of clay. I mean, its not as if he is in the peak of health, other than this current problem.

I actually don't like the guy, but I say, let him die at his prime, rather than keeping him alive so he can be spoon fed for the next 3 years.

I would want to die. That's hardly a shadow of what he was... it's really sad.
I don't know, though, if i ever get to that point, i may feel differently, but standing here in good health, i would not want to live like that.

Only Bill Frist knows. He just needs to see some video of Sharon and he can tell us what's best.

    Chester,

This is what I posted in an earlier thread you started when Sharon was brought to the hospital.

I stand by that statement and would add that if he's able to spend a bit of time in a wheelchair out in his garden,I hope his familly will join him and enjoy some quality private time with him.

Yes I'd want to be kept alive if I could get that much out of what's left of my life.

    You actually asked this question?

    Alrighty, then . . .
Unless Israeli hospitals have different footwear policies than most in the US and Canada, he's barefoot and his shoes are empty.
    So, yes.
Someone send me some odor eaters stat! This can't be kosher.

Nothing is certain, but have you ever looked at the data on "massive" cerebal hemmorages?

As I said, this is not your garden variety stroke, where a small part of the brain dies.
If he survives.....which is a fair chance......then I am guessing he'll be lucky to ever be able to brush his teeth. The key word in the reports was "massive".

I am 100% sure that he will never be a significant leader of Israel again.
In that capacity is is already dead. We are only hearing otherwise by people trying to be polite, by not declaring him dead already.

I heard a story on NPR and they were talking about AS in the past tense.

Unless he is in a persistant vegitative state...

...(by that I mean, nothing goin' on upstairs), than I say he has a decent chance of living out his years in relative comfort. Don't forget, this guy will have all the resources available to him to make life comfy courtesy of his ample pension and retirement benefits...let's just say he will have it a little better than Ron Reagan when it comes to his care...he gets to have that trollop T-3 posted as his 24 hour private duty nurse. Ronnie wanted one too, but Nancy wouldn't hear of it.
