protection for knee and or shins

My wife has been getting bruised on the inside of both knees every time we do some aggressive technical trail riding. She's a good rider with a good bike (2010 Specialized ERA Expert), but she's still relatively new to the sport. I'm very interested to get her some knee and or knee/shin protection, but am at a loss as to what is good for this issue for women. Would greatly appreciate any advice on product(s) to check.

My brother's girlfriend tried some other pads that she couldn't stand, but then she got the Fox Launch Pro Knee/Shin pads and really likes them. I'm not sure how aggressive or technical your riding is, but she wears them for trail riding and downhill.

I'd also try the 661 eve shin and knee they are lighter and pretty comfortable.
