Not full face
I currently use a standard riding helmet. But, I'd like a helmet that offers some protection for my chin, but I don't want a traditional full face helmet.
I don't do steep or fast downhill riding. I don't do jumps. I don't do drop-offs of more than a foot. I don't want a full face helmet. The risk is not enough to warrant one, especially with how awkward it will be on climbs. But, since there is always a little risk of an OTB, I'd like something more than nothing.
does anyone have recommendations on a suitable helmet?

I don't know of any helmets that offer chin protection without going to a full face lid. The latest AM type helmets are adding rear and side protection, but nothing for the chin. When I endo, its either my arms or shoulders that take the brunt of any impact, as I tend to roll. I have struck the back of my head a few times during a roll, but never had a face plant.

Two words: MET Parachute.

EDIT: Beaten by a minute!
Not out yet, but the new MET parachute should fit the bill. They don't have US distribution so you'll have to order it from Chainreaction or the like. There's a thread about both the original and new one in this forum somewhere.
