No Helmet = Wrath of smashgoreskidgutsmanglecrush

disclaimer: shows a bit of blood, but no gore or guts as the title implies

actually, it's not as bad as it could have been I guess... but we don't know exactly how he ended up in the end... regardless, the huck was big, he paid the consequence, no matter if he thought he was hamilton, or whether he was not thinking at all...

Looks like a combination of spokes breaking and the tire blowing, then just the cement sucking his face to the surface like a ________ (insert whatever you feel sucks incredibly hard and is comical, ie. pornstar, vacuum, etc...).

And alright alright, no ridiculous comments on emo or tight pants or whatever... it's not even funny anymore, just a blatant hatred/grudge towards hipsters resulting in a ridiculous stereotype... whether it effected his riding or not...

but about the helmet.... man... I'm no helmet nazi either, and I don't always wear one when riding street, but then again, I've never even thought about attempting a chuck like that, and even if I did, I'd be guaranteed to be showin' up with a lid on my melon...

Wow, that has to suck. I would have defiantly worn my brain bucket for that one, thats if I even had the guts to try that.

The helmet might not have helped with his face getting torn up but I can guarantee you he wouldn't have the amount of brain damage he has now. He was lucky to not have split his head wide open.

A head impact like that can change your life. People think "it's okay, I'll survive", but it can completely change your personality. My wife had a friend in school who hit her head hard enough that she was never the same again. She became short-tempered and reclusive, it was super-hard for her family to learn to live with a complete stranger that used to be their daughter.

I just used my full face a week and a half ago. Almost literally JRA (ok, so I was carving turns down a hill). Hit a bump wrong, front wheel crossed up, launched me OTB fast, landed on face and head. I walked away with a cracked helmet and this:

How many times is helmet talk gonna occur? I admit it's a tired subject but more over it won't help increase helmet usage.

As long as stupid people without one get hurt and we have the footage to prove it, we'll keep talking about it.

uggh, that's the most disgusting thing I've ever seen. You can guarantee that there's a hole in the side of his face.

It was so stupid for him to try that without a full face atleast the first time. And probably some pads, just incase, you know?

Then when he knew what to expect, he could leave it at home if he didn't want to take it.

But this is not necessarily true. IMHO, if it saves even just one kid from brain damage, it's worth it.

it's doesn't matter whether they don't like them or not it's a bad role model. The newer "skater" style helmets are "cooler" now and they should be wearing helmets to show no one is to good or to "cool" for helmets...of course I do this big speech and I have just started wearing my helmet oops. Nasty video though

I don't think a helmet would have helped his face much.

    That was pretty funny.

    Thanks!

his face would still have been a mess . ..

I don't understand how you can ride in those pants. If you're Led Zeppelin or something you can wear those pants if you like, but if you need your knees to be bending, you shouldn't really be wearing em.

ouch, that sucks ass right there. A full face would have saved his face.
I used to roll around with no helmet, till I ended up with a fractured spine, 11 stitches in the face, no eyebrow. Then I wore my helmet about eh once a week.
About 2 years later, I crash doing a up and brakes didnt lock, and I fell about 2-3 feet, on top of my 6 feet to the back of my head- resulting in 6 staples in the back of the dome. On my 2nd day of a new job. I got to work, still bleeding like a mad man, I called my pops asking him for a new shirt and mabye a ride to the hospital depending on if my head was still bleeding. Sure enough when he got there an hour later, it hadnt slowed down at all. The major factor was my dad saying this "Michael, what is this about your 7th major head injury?"
Now, helmet regardless. No more bashing my noodles.
With the tight pant thing- I don't wear tight emo pants, but when I ride trials, I have to wear a tighter pair of pants, not emo "I stole my sisters pants" tight, but could classify as Levi tight pants- I'm embarrassed just wearing them around while not on my bike. But, I always catch girls checkin out my package..
Running a front freewheel set up, its not very easy getting my pants out of my FW. Plus riding trials, I dont need to be hanging off a 6' ledge, go to engage the drive train and pants get sucked in, and I go face first into the pavement.
God I cant wait for summer so I can ditch the tight pants and just wear shorts.
