    Need Helmet Cam Advice
I am interested in buying a helmet cam. Not really looking to get into the cam with the dvr separate, unless necessary. I would like one with descent video & audio quality & has good play back on tv. I have been looking at the oregon scientific atc2k 2000 & the go prohelmet hero 3, if anyone has any experiance with either let me know. If I am wasting my time with that type & need to go to separates any suggestions will help I was just trying to stay away from all the cords and extra baggage. Play back on tv is important though.
    any help Thanks syn

the go pro helmet hero has some pretty awesome quality and the quick release housing makes it easy to mount it on some frame mounts and such.

Here's a vid of a seatpost cam. Didnt get the angle right but as you can see, quality is pretty sweet...

    Boooooo to Oregon Scientific.
My Oregon Scientific helmet cam totally sucks. I got way better results zip tying an ordinary digital camera to my helmet.
It has a narrow angle lens, so you get no sensation of speed, and it bounces around in the mounting bracket giving a really shaky picture. And the color sucks. Really washed out.

    Don't buy it.

wow, that one had some pretty good quality. I am looking into getting a helmet cam too. Just worried about getting something that is not good quality. How many frames per second it that cam?

i think it's like 30 frames a second. It's also got narrow lens on it too but Go Pro Cameras are working on a wide angle lens which they will be releasing soon i think which will give a bigger picture and reduce the video shake. But even without it, it looks pretty darn sweet...

Helmet cams - where are the reviews??
I'm also looking to buy a helmet cam package. I've been trying to do research all evening and can't find much at all.

The VIO POV.1 seems like one of the best quality packages out there but is damn expensive. Does anybody know of anything as good that's a bit cheaper?

Is there a forum or website where these types of camera's are reviewed?

I don't know if there's a site devoted to these things, but I remember Mountain Bike Tales testing quite a few of them:

    ATC2K:

    Vio Sports Action Cam 3:

Took me about 15 secs into that video to realize where it was.
Cinderella looks so much harder from that angle.

It's all about how fast you want to go... On a good day, we run Cindy at 1:45 or less. It's definitely one of my favourite trails though. Super flowy. XD

We should ride sometime dude seeing as we're in the same area... XD

    Looks pretty cool.

One thing I notice is the sound doesn't seem that loud - I had full volume and didn't hear much - can this be overcome?

Also, do you have to buy editing software separately or does it come with some. Apologies, but I'm looking to buy my first video camera and don't know much. For example, how do you put music to it and edit slow bits out?

    Thanks

Saw these guys at Interbike and I gotta hand it too them, the head honcho put on a helluva show. They had a bunch of widescreen tv's playing their vids, and I gotta say I was impressed. It was hard to believe how good they looked.
