    Need advice on a helmet

I'm going to whistler later this year and figured if I was going to buy one piece of protective equipment and rent the rest the best bang for the buck would be a full face helmet.

Unfortunately non of the local stores carry any full face helmets.

I've been looking and its tough to judge them with out being able to hold them and put them on.

Do you guys have any advice for trying to pick one online?
Or certain ones to check out or stay away from?
Also I've seen a couple in carbon fiber at close to the price of the regular versions. Is CF a must get on a new helmet or is it more hype?

    thanks

Go with TLD D2 or D3 helmet depending on your budget. There is a reason the best riders in the world wear TLD helmets. They fit great, look cool, and offer outstanding protection.

I had the luxury of trying on a bunch of helmets at my local store, and by far the TLD D2 was more comfortable than the rest. The TLD helmets are well worth the coin. Remember, its is your noggin they are protecting.

CF is nice if you have the money, or if you can get one of last year's models for a decent price. It is a bit lighter, therefor a little more comfortable, but not neccessary. The D2 composite helmet is just as good. Price being equal, I would buy the CF.

Price being equal, I would buy the Ferrari over the Toyota Corolla.

Brilliant! Except you can't find Ferraris at Toyota prices. You can, however, find '09 TLD Carbon Fiber helmets for under $200.

I just use my helmet for mx on the mtb. Thor Force. Definitley a little heavier than the mtb helmets. You can go to your local moto store to size up helmets for brands like tld, then order online. I'm sure they don't size the mtb helmets any different than mx.

    +1 on the CF helmet

its worth the money to get somthing comfortable that you'll wear.
