    Motorcycle helmets

    Do any of the normal MTB players also make DOT approved helmets? I am finally getting a motorcycle and need a decent helmet. As a shop guy I was hoping I could make a call or two to track something down without having to break the bank.

    Full face/modular

    I know Fox has motocross stuff, but this would be road commuting and such.

    661 makes a nice dot/snell approved helmet. I'm wearing one of their 07 launches and the thing looks sick. the 08's look even more blingtastic.

    ::edit:: oh your talking about a street bike helmet, pretty sure 661 doesnt make them. for a cheapy, but decent street bike helmet look into KBC.

    I'm looking at the Bell stuff now. It's good looking stuff. hopefully I can get a hook-up.

    I just looked at the 661 stuff and it doesn't look like a decent fit for road riding.

    I've gotten three matching KBC helmets on closeout or inventory reduction from Motorcycle accessory warehouse. I'm talking $250 helmets for @$125

    There are lots of affordable DOT motorcycle helmets out there (affordable even without the shop hookup). I am pretty sure Bell is the only one that currently does bike stuff as well. Oneal used to make street helmets, not sure now though.

    I have purchased helmets through these guys in the past - http://www.ridegear.com/ - good prices, fast shipping.

    Ya, HJC too.
    HJC and KBC are an even match quality wise. Both companies put features on their mid level helmets that are normally only found on high$$ end helmets from other companies like Bell and Sumoy. Things like multiple air vents and removable face shields, breath guards and aerodynamic shells.

    This question makes no sense to me.
    Bike = Bike Gear
    Motorcycle = Motorcycle Gear
    Kayak = kayak Gear
    Canoe + Canoe Gear
    Snowboard + Snowboard Gear
    Boat = Boat Gear
    Ski = Ski Gear
    Skate Board = Skate Gear
    Jet Ski = Jet Ski Gear

    Buy the gear to match the sport.

    he was talking about road motorcycle helmets. what he meant was he wanted to see if any bicycle helmet manufacturers made any motorcycle helmets, so he can use his shop discounts/hook ups.

    HJC makes some nice street helmets and they are really cheap. just make sure it you get one with a 100% friberglass shell, that composite stuff is no good...

    i agree with scabrider. you can find good deals on HJC stuff all over the net. i ride with an HJC on my dirtbike, it's great. has the fit and finish of the $375 fox helmets but i got it for only $130. so their street stuff should be great too. if your shop sells Bell, you may be able to get hookups with one of their street helmets, if they will let your shop sell stuff from a different lineup/market/sport/whatever.
