Looking ahead at fall/winter wear, leg/arm warmers?

Here in Dallas winter is not that bad, I used to live in Kansas City so I know what real winter feels like. but last winter was my first one on a bike. I rode in shorts and long sleeve t-shirts as long as I could stand it, then I rode with old baggy khaki type pants that didn't restrict movt. The problem I had was if it was aaround 40 or warmer I would be freezing at the start and sweating through the pants and long sleeves by midway on the ride.

I am allot more educated on the bike appearal now and think that arm and leg warmers worn under my usual shorts and t-shirts, possibly layering the t-shirt and just wearing leg warmers under my shorts, may be the ticket.

Any positives or negatives, any preferred brands?
Hardrock 29er, Niner EMD9, Cannondale F29, Camber Expert, 650b Nickel all gone.
    2014 Giant Anthem 27.5 here.

I have the pearl izumi's and they have worked pretty good so far. Keep in mind i am in FL and cold here is when the ride starts below 50.
