Kyle Strait 661s causing a rash?!

So I ride in AZ and I recently picked up some 661 knee pads. I have found that after both rides the backs and fronts of my knees developed a really itchy rash. Has anyone else run into this problem with the 661s or any other pad? Should these things really only be used for downhill/FR when peddling is kept at a minimum? I'm guessing because they are getting used under heavy peddling conditions the sweat build up is causing the problem, anyone have any thoughts? Love the pads otherwise but this will certainly keep me from getting much use out of them...

I get rashes from my pair seemingly at random, usually on the front knee. I used them for a week in the Alps last summer without any problems (lots of pedalling). But on the occasional local XC ride I get bad rashes, sometimes only on one knee, sometimes on both. Takes a week to heal properly, it's quite annoying.

I have them and do a lot of climbing with no rash problems.

My daughter plays soccer and is prone to rashes from her shin guards. We got rash guards for her and no more rashes. Something like a knee warmer but thinner wicking material might work for you.

That happens with new pads. The pads and your skin will "break-in" and it'll feel better. As someone who wears pads full time, XC, trail, or DH, and often goes through 2 sets a year, I encounter it all the time with new pads, especially if I switch to try something else (I tend to want to go back to Kyle Straits for knee and Race Face Rally FR elbow). If you call up 661 or RaceFace or whoever, they'll just say they never heard of that issue before.
