    Issues with newer helmets

Went to buy a new helmet this past week cuz my old one is about 5 years old.
Wanted to upgrade to newer style with more coverage and newer tech and ran into some major issues.
Most of the newer helmets had straps that were attached to base of helmet and had no adjustment for around your ears.
I never noticed that I have unusual ears before this but Giant Rail had the strap that was rubbing heavily under my ear.Totally unacceptable.
Spec Ambush was a gorgious helmet but was same issue although not as bad.
Tried on 661 Evo, another awesome helmet that was close, better adjustment but still rubbing.
Starting to wonder if I'm freak or have others had similar issues?
    Any comments?
    Meanwhile my search continues...

I just returned a Smith Forefront for the same reason. It's a really nice helmet, but the straps were annoying and not much room for adjustments.
I tried on a Bontrager Lithos MIPS mountain bike helmet and it fit pretty good, but I'm actually holding out for a new 6D helmet with ODS technology. If the 6D doesn't fit, I'll get the Bontrager.
    Good luck with your search!

Try on more helmets. There was a bell that looked really cool, but a giro fit me the best. There are still a lot more brands.

I really like my 6D overall, curious to see what they have improved.

Motorcyclists talk about having an Arai head or a Shoei head. Is there some of this going on? With the bike I find Bell helmets generally produce a good fit. Have for years.
Oh dang, that's right. Been 5 years. Time for a new one.

I find different models within the same brand can fit differently as well.
    Do the math.

My last Giro was this way. First one I tried on fit terribly. Tried on 4 of the same size, same model and they fit differently. One actually fit well. I don't know if it's a Giro thing or all brands. But my theory has always been that they probably have dozens of molds for each model and size, and all are slightly different.

POC Race Trabec fits me better than the previous five helmets I've had over the past ten years
