    Helmets.....

    anybody wearing BMX/skate style lids?

was looking for a new lid, im assuming this type may offer more protection than the traditional xc variety.....

#3 (Cyphon) looks pretty similar to the Giro Xen, which I've been using for a while now, cool enough for summer rides even.

What kind of riding are you doing? If you doing XC/AM you're probably not going to need a skate lid, and the crashing will generally not put you on your a$$ so a crash to the rear of the helmet is fairly unlikely. If you doing trials, park and stuf where you could be going backwards then a helmet with some more coverage on the back is a good idea.

Protecting your head and face are important, $80 helmet to protect you from $$$$$ of surgery or whaterver seems like a good call to me.

Check out Jenson, they had a nice helmet (bell I think) for $30 this morning. Full face so you can keep your teeth in your head too.

ventilation is a consideration. skate type jump lids generally dont flow air as good. better for cold riding, but worse in the heat. i wear a protec ace on my longboard, and a gyro e2 on the bike. good luck
