    Helmet to small?

    Hiya all,

Picked up a helmet the other day I measured my head with a tape and picked the size it corresponded to.

But I think it is too small?

    Here are some pictures

    Thanks

    Karl

Looks like it fits fine. If you can put your head inside the helmet and get a good comfortable fit then it is not too small. If you are concern that the rear bottom of your head is expose and you were expecting it to be protected, is the type of helmet you got. Typically the mountain biking helmets have the extended rear to protect more of the back of your head. You can see what a mountain biking helmet. There are a lot of variety and colors of helmets that you can choose from.

That's about how it's supposed to fit. It protrudes in front to protect your forehead in a straight head-on collision. It won't do anything for your face. Same for the back. It won't protect the base of your skull, but that's not exactly helmet territory, anyway.

There's still a bit too much road influence in mtb's and mtb gear, but we slowly are moving away from that, at least in certain disciplines.

If you are looking for a helmet with more coverage look for an All Mountain or Trail Helmet (that's the term nowadays). Your helmet is a typical mountain bike or XC helmet.

I had a similar issue with a bontrager helmet. It made me look like a mushroom from the neck up. Switched to a Kali Amara and problem solved. Very comfy too.

Haha, thanks everyone for the replies. I think it will do the job for now as I am just starting out and doing basic trailway paths. Cheers

Maybe it's your head that's too big. The helmet looks fine.

My wife keeps my head from getting too big. I showed her a video of my friends an I riding. Her comment, "you ride so slow". Ouch.
