    Helmet ratings for Sea Otter

I am planning on racing Sea Otter this year as my first MTB race ever. I read online yesterday, and it said all helmets must meet ANSI or SNELL requirements. I then looked up my Oneal Fury which meets CPSC standards but didn't mention the other two. Is my helmet OK, or do I have to look for a new one?

Being a motocycle guy I had the same thought at my first Sea Otter. No one ever inspected my helemet at all. I had bought a new one too.

It was a far cry from a Track Day where everything is inspected.

I have noticed that with bike events - they have all these prerequisites, but at the end of the day there is very little follow-up on it.

I am fully aware that these are needed by the insurers, but all the event needs is one incident where someone didnt have the appropriate equipment and it will be game over.

Kind of... Mark Raynolds RIP died there from a broken neck (wasn't wearing a leatt brace). He might have had a heart attack right before he crashed, never heard the verdict on that one, but basically, its ride at your own risk. Sea Otter moves on.

Anyway, wear a good helmet and you'll be golden.
