GoPro HD - off-helmet cam, winter footage

Thought I would share.... we had some fun on some local trails the other day with some strategic camera placement

    Thanks GR,

I'm using Sony Vegas for the editing... I find it very easy to use and much more user friendly than Premiere CS4. Plus it reads the GoPro HD format well!

    Hey Phil, not bad!

Must've taken a while to set it up for each specific spot like that. Do you ever mount it to your helmet at all, or use it mainly stationary?

yes, it did take a while to set up each shot; I'm lucky that my peers were patient!

I did shoot some POV footage but the 16:9 aspect on the Gopro (r5 resolution) wasn't conducive to that. So I decided to make this video all non-POV.

I did some footage a few weeks ago in 4:3 mode, POV:

    <object width="512" height="384"><param name="allowfullscreen" value="true" /><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always" /><param name="movie" value="http://vimeo.com/moogaloop.swf?clip_id=8431294&amp;server=vimeo.com &amp;show_title=0&amp;show_byline=1&amp;show_portr ait=0&amp;color=00ADEF&amp;fullscreen=1" /><embed src="http://vimeo.com/moogaloop.swf?clip_id=8431294&amp;server=vimeo.com &amp;show_title=0&amp;show_byline=1&amp;show_portr ait=0&amp;color=00ADEF&amp;fullscreen=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowscriptaccess="always" width="512" height="384"></embed></object><p><a href="http://vimeo.com/8431294">Hilton Falls Winter Riding</a> from <a href="http://vimeo.com/mtbshep">Phil Shep</a> on <a href="http://vimeo.com">Vimeo</a>.</p>

Nice footage! Yeah, I've been researching helmet cams a bit lately and keep finding that the gopro's footage tends to warp near the edges and I don't like it that much. The clarity is pretty damn nice though, at least while it's not full-screened. How much researching did you do before you landed on this?

Sorry, was meant to reply to your latest post, not the original.

I think for the price this camera is fantastic. I don't really notice the edges, and the HD resolution is amazing! I did most of my research here on the forum and by looking at LeeL's review of it. I also had the previous version, the GoPro Wide and it was very good as well. you can check out my other videos I made with it if you hit my vimeo page

I think the most genius thing about the gopro hd is its simplicity.

Nice footage, wish we had so little snow so I can try it out in the woods.

I tried vegas as a free trial download but it didn`t recognise the format, so that went off the list.... looks like I have to reconsider it again now.

Very nice video. Great choice of angles, it really keeps the viewer entertained. What song is that btw?
