    Giro helmet fit

There is no LBS near where I live so I'm going to order a helmet that I can't try for fit first. I'm close to the borderline between the medium and large size (a little more towards the medium side) according to the Giro chart. Do they run pretty accurate and I should order a medium or are they towards the snug side and I should go with a large? Obviously I don't want a loose floppy helmet but I don't want a skull crusher either.

Does the helmet you are looking at have some sort of an adjustable "head clamp" mechanisom?

This can help with fitment if the helmet is too big.

Giro helmets hurt my big head so I don't know much about their fit.

Yeah, it's adjustable but it comes in 3 base sizes and my head measurement falls almost right at the border between medium and large. Medium is 21.75" - 23.25" and large is 23.25" - 24.75", I'm right around 23" which should make a medium the obvious choice but I know things don't always fit like the manufacturer says it will so I thought I'd ask first. I can always send it back if I have to, just trying to avoid the hassle if possible because I'm ordering from the U.S. and I'm in Canada (if someone knows of a good online store for bike stuff that's located in Canada that would be great (and save me the duties, etc.), I haven't been able to find one though).

I think the Giro helmets run a tad larger than they say. I thought I had a big head until I tried on a Giro large. It was way too big. I'd go for the medium. If it's too small just shave your head

Don't forget the padding will "pack down". You want it snug to start with.

Ok, thanks everybody. I was just a little nervous 'cause I took a pretty good hit on my kayaking helmet and ordered another that I wasn't familiar with online and the sizing didn't seem to even come close so there was a lot of extra time involved getting it swapped out when I really needed it. I'm sending the order off today though, I appreciate the help.
