    Full,BMX, Or traditional Helmet??

    What do you guys wear and why?

    Im looking into get a helmet but cant decide what I want.

    I probably need a full helmet but not to sure I want to wear a full helmet all the time on the trail.....

    Just curious what works for you?

    trails, singletracks,loops just getting into the sport and loving it so probably will be riding some more extreme trails later on...

    Id like to start riding drops, rocks, just whatever a trail can challenge me with really,

    If you're riding single track, I'd think you would want a helmet with good ventilation to keep you head cool and/or dry-ish. I don't know much about BMX helmets, but wouldn't think they had enough ventilation. I'd get a well ventilated MTB helmet for now, you can another helmet later if you start rinding really sick stuff.

    Some MTB helmets cover more of the head than others. For example, the Giro Hex covers more of the back of the head than most.

    I've used both. BMX helmets definitely dont have the same ventilation properties as a MTB helmet. I'm using a Giro Hex and have no complaints.

    I too am using a Hex, and I like it.

    You should be able to find last year's model on sale for under $80, I think I got mine for around $60
