Fixing Velcro Straps on MTB shoes (way I did it)

I figured I'd share this seeing I spent a fair amount of time looking online for a decent solution. I have an old pair of SIDI Dominators and the velcro is was toast. I used a razor to peel off the non-hook side of the velcro, cleaned it up, and used new Velcro (the actual brand - Amazon I think I got it from). (First you should test a piece to make sure it's the root of the problem - my hook side grabbed the new stuff real well). The attached picture should give some clarity to this.

I cut out identical shaped pieces. They do have a peel back but I decided to use some Gorilla glue as well. Glue the strap...spread it evenly, peel off backing to velcro, stick. It says to let it sit for several hours but it appears this is going work well.

Good luck if you are having similar issues.

The Gorilla Glue is adhered to whatever pressure sensitive adhesive is on the back of the Velcro. One will fail before the other. The GG might provide a better surface for the PSA to adhere to than the strap alone. As of your post, it was still curing and you hadn't tried it yet, so it is not yet known how well it will work.
    Do the math.
