    Convertible Fullface/Standard Helmet Options

    Hi All,

Am looking to get a helmet that can convert from a standard open helmet to a fullface helmet by attaching a chin bar.

So far all I can find is the Bell Super 2R

I know they're not as good as a "proper" FF, but it saves taking two helmets when traveling, and there is no chance I'm ever going to race DH, so don't need to worry about the vents stopping it from passing the required standard for that.

I've had a look at all the major manufacturers and the Bell is all I can see. If you can let me know if I've missed one?

Maybe I should just have a look for a second hand switchblade?

Bell is the only one for now. There are a few others that should come out later this year, but with the Bell be tried and tested already, hard to go wrong with it. Just make sure it fits you first (it didn't fit me)

Yeah, have tried the Bell in a Medium without MIPS and Larger with MIPS.
Both didn't quite fit. So will have to track down the appropriate size to try again.

The MIPS ones fit a tad different from non MIPS, if the medium w/o MIPS was too small and the L with MIPS too small, a L w/o MIPS may be just the ticket

Yeah, I'm probably looking more MIPS in a Medium. The non-MIPs was way to unpadded for my liking

I like my 2R with MIPS. Liking it more the more I use it which is unusual.

I noticed Art's had the new MET Parachute when I bought my 2R but it was significantly more expensive and didn't seem to have a GoPro mount included.

For reference I've owner the original Switchblade (destroyed in a crash) and a 1st generation MET Parachute (just got old). The Bell 2R is vastly superior to any of the earlier types.

The Parachute doesn't let you remove the chin bar though does it? (Though looks deceptively like you can)

I didn't even try so can't comment. One thing I like about the 2R is that removing and installing the chin piece is fast and easy once you get the hang of it.

Thing is, the MET is vented well enough, you don't need to take the chin bar off.
