I've had great luck (everybody else has too) with roach/raceface knee/arm pads. Cant give you any advice on chest armor other than to stay away from 661 if you want a suit that isnt going to ride half way up your back every time you sit on a bike. I absolutely despise my 661 jacket, i'll be dropping the 350 on daniese this season. I havent tried it but the people here in new england like their rockgardn flakjackets very much, they sell for 180 so thats pretty cheap for a nice jacket IMO. Good luck.

661, cheap and very nice quality; does the job. Two thumbs up for 661, will never buy anything else (poor college kid).

Try ufoplast.com for some alternative body armour.

I got this armour and its pretty good. not that expensive either. AUS $250

    http://www.ufoplast.com/visualizza_a...zioni&lang=eng

It fit me better than the 661 and Rockgarden gear. I don't even know I'm wearing it

Check out www.highvelocitygear.com. The design is nearly identical to Dainese but significantly less expensive. Drop them an email with your chest size to figure out sizing.

I'm running a 3/4 Dainese Shuttle suit and will be using a highvelocitygear's body armor for this season.

... and if we just ...

I like skin! It's free, covers everything, and repairs itself (on most minor scratches, may need professional help for really bad ones).

    helmets...on a similar note

on a similar note, anyone got any advice about full face helmets. i saw a protec one at the sprts store that was really light and sort of cheap. anyone used it? i dont really have to have something expensive, but comfort and quality are good things. the protec seems like its made a little more for bmxers, but do any of you use it? its the cheapest one, the ace

The mouth piece feels like it right at your mouth, and they run small. Why sacrifice your head, spend some cash, or use some misdirected insurance money to pay for it, but I wouldnt do that........
