    Carbon helmets worth the price?

When shopping for helmets, like the Giro Remedy, is CF worth the extra 100-150 gram
that is saving.. it costs double.

I think I won't have a problem with regular weight (I have decent neck muscles)
but maybe want to get the CF for my wife.

Note that we are beginners and although not to daring..
I decided to shop for FF helmet or at least bring it to the park incase the terrain is a bit overwhelming.

All helmets have to meet the same standards.
What you get for more money is better fit, cooling and materials and less weight.
And, of course, a lighter wallet.
Is the lighter helmet worth the lighter wallet? That'd be for you to decide.

If you were a racer and had to get EVERY inch of performance out of your bike where the difference between winning and losing is measured in thousandth of a second, yes.

For recreational riding at speeds beginners go at, no not at all. In riding you are going to go down, it will happen, the helmet apparently is good for one crash (say the helmet companies, from who you will buy your next helmet) Unless you are going to go totally nuts and rockout to Agent Oranges Bloodstains while doing insane jumps you don't need to go uber expensive for a helmet that only offers a breath more protection.

I don't like carbon bikes becasue you can't put them in the camp fire.

Man, haven't heard of that song for ages. That was one of the first punk records I bought. Still have it just don't have a record player now.

They can make things worse for me
    Sometimes I'd rather die
They can tell me lots of things
But I can't see eye to eye
I know they know the way I think
    I know they always will
But someday I'm gonna change my mind
    Sometimes I'd rather kill

    (chorus)
    Blood stains, speed kills
    Fast cars, cheap thrills
    Rich girls, fine wine
I've lost my sense, I've lost control, I'm lost my mind

Things seem so much different now
    The scene has died away
    I haven't got a steady job
And I've got no place to stay
Well, it's a futuristic modern world
But things aren't what they seem
    Someday you better wake up
    From this stupid fantasy

    (chorus)
