    Cannondale Alpaca Beanie (or substitute)

Iíve had an alpaca beanie from Cannondale for a while that is the best hat Iíve ever owned. It fits me perfectly, snug but no pressure on my head, and perfect blend of warmth and venting. It looks like pretty ordinary but on closer inspection you can see the material on top is a little thinner for venting. Iíve searched online and even called Cannondale recently to find another or even who made it for them, but alas, no success.

So last week it went missing and now Iím on the hunt for a replacement. Any info on the Cannondale hat would be great, but recommendations on an alpaca or other replacement would be great. Prefer natural fibers.

I use an Icebreaker 200 beanie under my helmet when cold. Fits well mine is about 10 years old and the newer one looks a bit longer so better ear coverage. Can be turned inside out for a different color and no change in the merino wool performance.

    Thanks for the reply.

I ended up finding the hat, but bought a couple different options to try out as I need a replacement/backup.

Will check out the Icebreaker if need be.

I use a merino wool neck gaiter (gaitor?). Warm, but breathes. Numerous options for coverage, head, neck, face, ears, etc.

I'm a huge fan of the Varusteleka wool items. https://www.varusteleka.com/en/category/sarma-tst/2258

I have the beanie, balaclava, scarf, L1 tops/bottoms & L2 tops/bottoms. They are all great.

    Cannondale Alpaca Beanie (or substitute)

I tried this Colombia out the other day but I was unable to slide Oakleys under my helmet. As soon as the grippy rubber on the ear pieces touched the hat, it pushed the hat back. I was never able to get my glasses on. Fail.

I bought this Pearl Izumi merino beanie for early morning trips to the gym and while at the gym. Itís very thin so I didnít think it would be very warm but if feels great for the gym. So Iíll give it a go as a riding hat and see how it feels.
