    bike helmet

I'm looking for a good open face bike helmet. I use a kitesurf helmet right now that I like but it's too hot. I want something that has a lot of protection around the back of the head and ears. Is there something out there besides the bell faction?

Are full face helmets supper hot and heavy?

    Thanks for the input.

Yeah I like that type of helmet, but I need MORE air. I ride in Hawaii and it's hot. I end up only wearing the helmet on the down hill parts and the wife is not liking that idea.

If a kitesurfing helmet is too hot, a full face will kill you on the uphills. I am not in a hot climate and the biggest problem when I tried climbing a hill with a FF helmet was that all the air I exhaled got trapped in front of my face...

... what kind of riding are you doing anyway? Any particular reason why a "normal" bike helmet is inadequate? They tend to have pretty good ventilation.

I'm just worried about being safe since I'm just learning to jump. I kitesurf, and there have been a lot of deaths lately from head injuries. I don't know if it happens much in the bike world, but just want to be safe. Plus I don't like how a regular bike helmet just sits on the top of the head. I like the feeling of a helmet that goes around the back of the head.

The Fox Flux seems very nice but it's hard to see from the pics. Does it have good protection on the back of the head?

To me it seems like a great compromise between a regular cyclist helmet and a full face. I plan on picking one up soon.

And here's a image I found on bikeradar.com using google images search.
