    Asolo packs - warranty information?
Does anyone have info on Asolo packs re: who to contact for service? I got mine roughly 13 years ago, and the one of the zippers finally gave out. I know it has a lifetime warranty, but at the moment I can't put my hands on the docs that came with it.

From some quick googling they appear to be distributed in Canada by Infinity Outdoor; I emailed them about a week ago and haven't heard anything.

I think you'll find that the "lifetime warranty" on your pack refers to the "lifetime of the pack", rather than your lifetime. Most manufacturers will consider a 13 year life a pretty reasonable time frame.

One other point to is that often zipper tracks and sliders are considered wear and tear parts, so may not be covered even after a few years.

All of that said, it's always worth an email to see how you go!

If the zipper is in decent condition, many times replacing the slider will solve the problem.
13 years out of a pack is pretty good.

I eventually went to the vendor and checked out the warranty on the current packs, which for reference is as follows:

This product is covered by a Limited Lifetime Warranty. We guarantee that this product is free from manufacturing, design, or material defects, for the life of the item. Please do understand that this warranty can not cover damage due to abuse or due to the natural degradation of materials over the course of time. In the unlikely event that you do have a problem with this item, please return it to your dealer for repair or replacement. For more help, you can call us toll-free in North America at 1-888-718-2288.

Infinity Outdoor is indeed the contact. And while I understand the terms of the warranty, they could have at least fired an email back.

As for fixing it, it doesn't look good. The ends of the zipper are inaccessible without taking out multiple layers of fabric/stitching, and I can't get the teeth re-aligned because the material covering the ends of the tape run across it diagonally. I guess I could just pry open the sliders and see if I can get it back into alignment, though it seems like a risky idea while it still works enough to hold the compartment closed...

shameless self promotion... you could send it to me. I could at least tell you how much of a production or not it would be to fix it. Most zipper fixes are a matter of knowing which hammer/nail to use.

I"d go with the above and take it to a specialist outdoor equipment repairer. They'll be able to tell you if it will be a quick fix or require something more drastic. Could be a $20 fix I reckon!

I'm still getting my head around someone using the same pack for 13 years.

If it works, why not? Wash the stank out of it every now and then.
