New question here. Arm & Leg Armor.....recommendations?

I'm looking for knee/shin and forearm/elbow armor that's comfortable and flexible enough for XC/trail riding. Yesterday, I endo'd on a rocky downhill and scraped up my arms and elbows. I figure it's time for armor, but I want to find something that's comfortable enough to pedal in....I'm not a downhiller, not a free rider and not a hucker. Recommedations?

I recommend the veggie knee & shin pads. They attach via velcro so you don't have to wear the shins if you don't want them although I take more shots to the shins that the knees.

I also use the 661 race elbow pad but I may give the chicken wing a go sometime.

I have the Core Rat Knee and Shin Guards that are okay. Over priced but light weight and fairly comfortable. They look home made. The arm pads don't work too well for me. But the knee and shin combo's work great. I don't even notice that I have them on.

I also have the Roach Rally FR Leg & Arm Armor that I really like. I have only just begun to use them. They are much hotter than the Core Rats but are a much better quality product. I feel much safer with these. I think these will be my go to pads from here on.

Just go to a shop and see what fits, that's more important than anything else. The things to consider are:

    - how secure the pads are (if you crash, you don't want the pads to get knocked off)
    - how ventilated they are (full wrap will be hotter)
    - whether the straps or stitching will irritate after a couple hours riding (this one is hard to tell)

    race face indy arm armor

Highly reccomend race face indy arm armor. love it. the leg armor is too bulky for me but the elbow, forearm is great...light weight, tough, can slide in my camelback for long uphills...bought at pricepoint.com
One of these days I'm gonna pull myself together
Soon as I finish tearin' myself apart
