I'm playing with some Five Ten Hellcats right now, it's an SPD flats shoe, they stick fine and the cleat cover is sticky rubber, but for hiking they are not inspiring, but the stiffness is pretty spot on for my needs.

What I really want is a shoe with some hiking tread, with a nylon stiffener under the arch to forefoot, so it's still flexible at the toe and behind the arch, but still has support over the pedal.

I was looking at the X Alps, but they are a little too soft and the sole does not grip pinned pedals very well.

And yes, I have been through ALL of the Five Ten platform shoes and they are all too soft, including the Impact.

I'm just wondering I have missed something...
