Any details on the new Giro helmet with removable chin bar?

It looks like Giro may have a new enduro helmet with a removable chin bar on the way. Similar to the Bell Super 2R. Just saw it this afternoon here on MTBR: BME Santa Fe - Mtbr.com

A guy at my LBS had mentioned it as well, but as of yesterday I had seen zero media confirming it so I decided not to wait (in case it was just a rumor) and pulled the trigger on a Super 2R, but if there was going to be a solid competitor available soon, I would cancel my order and wait for it.

Does anyone know more about this helmet? Specifically, whether this is a "released soon" product or something that won't be around until later this year/next year?

It looks good. Interesting to have the ear protection be built into the main helmet.

Interesting, essentially the very cool Uvex jakkyl hde is no where to be found after its official announcement. Others with removable chinbar I have noticed are the Laser Revolution and Cratoni Shakedown.

I have the 2R and its very nice but the chin bar is not downhill certified.

I hadn't seen either of the ones you mentioned, but they Bell looks like a better helmet than both of them.

I know its not DH certified, but I figured it would be a big upgrade in terms of safety for my current normal riding which involves 90% climbing or mixed up/down trails with a big descent at the end. Right now I usually wear the half dome since dragging my DH helmet along just for the end isn't fun.

To me the Uvex seems interesting but without it available and trying out in person, how good it is its anybody's guess.

Well the super 2r is sitting on my work bench. Fits great and looks like it would do a pretty good job protecting me in a face plant so I guess I'll stick with it.

It's the black and blue one. I love the color! Beats the steep and cheap special I have been using for almost 10 years.
