Alternate shoes for platform other than 5.10 ?

Are there any AWESOME shoes for platform pedals aside from 5.10?

I am super happy with the grip, feel, and stiffness of my 5.10 Impacts. Super rad, couldn't ask for anything better.

The only downside is how thick and puffy the material is -- tongues especially. In the wet season (now) they soak up water and adds a ton of weight.

I sometimes miss having shoes that were lightweight and drained out the water instead of holding it in, but I am not willing to go back to a clipless shoe.

Are there any other shoes I should consider?

My friend has some special edition (pro rider) leather high top 5.10s and he said they really keep the water out well.

Airwalk skate shoes are good as well as Orchid.

In theory I'm missing out on stickiness and sole stiffness by wearing skate shoes
(Vans if you want to get technical)
but at the point where my feet don't slip and I don't feel any adverse flexing...
I'm happy being able to spend 30 bucks a pair instead of 90.

    Not broke, don't fix.

i was wondering too if skate shoes would be a good cheaper alternative to the 5.10 shoes.

shimano makes some pretty nice ones--quite a bit lower profile than 5.10's. I've also had good luck with approach shoes, basic suede ones with soles similar to the 5.10's. They're generally pretty stiff and grippy.
