    5.10 impact sizing

I need a bit of help. I am looking to pick up a pair of 5.10 Impacts. I have an old pair, size 10. I would say it is near perfect lengthwise, and a bit too roomy width-wise. With other footwear, sometimes 9.5 is good, other times it's 10.0. Unfortunately I do not have a local place to purchase so I have to go the online route. Anyone fall into the same category by any chance and had luck going down a half size?

    Thanks

    Pete

I wore 9s for (original impact) awhile now have the new impact in 8.5 and it seems fine to me. I have a narrow low volume foot though.

I have a wide foot and usually wear a 12 1/2. I ended up buying two different sizes online and ended up buying a half size larger. And returned the other one back to the store with no problem. Might be the way to go...

I think they run wide but short for size.

I would say the new ones are about a half size shorter than the old ones. I had to send the new ones back in the same size as my old ones and in the meantime they jacked the price up so I didn't reorder.

if you are referring to vxi, it has a very roomy toe box so you can go lower than your normal shoes.

I use 10.5 in the rest of my shoes but for vxi i can go down to 9.

It all depends on personal preference as well, just like helmet. I prefer my toes to wiggle while others don't. Also my feet are wider in the toe area.

I can go down to 8 for a clipless CX shoes (XC50). This is 42. No one will wear a loose clipless anyway

Thanks for the comments. I was out on the bike last night with my old impacts. Even though they feel just right when walking, they are definitely a bit too roomy when pedaling. I guess it is time to try to size down.

BTW, damn these shoes are expensive. I can't find anybody discounting the vxi anywhere. Waiting for zappos to have them in stock, just in case I need to send them back for a different size. I like their shipping policy.
