Pearl Izumi x-project 3.0 or Giro Terraduro

Well riding season is coming on soon and my Scott genius 700 Lt is ready to go, but my feet are not.
I am looking for a new pair of shoes and have narrowed it down to 2 shoes, I think!!
Pearl Izumi x-project 3.0 and the Giro Terraduro. I am pretty sure that comments are gona come fast and furious about the type of riding I do, which may help better direct me to one shoe or the other but I more looking for feedback from people that have had or tried each.
It seems that both Have durability issues do to soft rubber used for traction. The pearls are stiffer for better efficiency and not so good on the slippery stuff. The Giro's are really good on the slippery stuff and apparently good in the pedaling department as well.

I am not a Hike a bike person but do like to walk around villages after a good day riding looking for good beer.

Looking forward to your comments and maybe some reputations

P.S. anyone know if you can tell if the Giro's are series 1 or 2. Series 2 is the only option so that the sole does not peel away.
