    New bike dilemma! Help me decide.

    Rocky Mountain Altitude Carbon 90 size Large.

    The bike has been ridden one season and has never been raced.

    hESoSo So I'm about to pull the trigger on one of the two bikes listed below! I cuSo I’m about to pull the trigger on a new bike and can’tdecide between the two listed below! I have been riding a 2016 Altitude 790carbon (160mm/150mm) for 2 years and have loved it. I love the idea of movingup to a 170mm fork for burly descents and bike park/shuttles(altitude); but I also lovethe idea of keeping the bike light for long pedals up(pivot). Based on the specs andbikes listed below, would someone like to add their suggestion? I worry thatthe Altitude with a 170 may be a pig to pedal, and I worry that the Pivot maynot be enough bike. I ride park twice a year, shuttle 10-12 times a year, therest of the time I like to pedal big days with burly descents all aroundBritish Columbia.

    Please help me decide : )

    New bike dilemma! Help me decide.

    I’d probably buy the new Rocky Mountain Slayer for 4999 that way you have a new bike and warranty. Or new Specialized Endure for 4500 or one of the Yeti SB150s on clearance for 4500. I never had a problem buying used bikes until I got a new recent bike that has frame issues after a few rides. Thankfully it was new and had a warranty.

    I'd the rocky out of those 2. But I'm a travel slut
    And 150-170 wins it for me.

    That said the pricing Is too steep for
    S/h in my opinion. At those prices also look at new builds.

    Not trying to un-do your bike selection, but agree that at that price point, I would strongly consider a new bike. This time of year, shops are trying move last year's models and there are deals to be had. Out of your two bike choices, I would get the RM though. Some of my buddies have RM's and I really like the way they ride.

    I pm'd you back Aaron. If you're set on either of your 2 choices, Altitude for the win. But, the Slayer would be my choice as mentioned above. For the riding area you told me you ride, that bike would kill it.

    BTW...the Altitude is NO pig going uphill. I find mine runs uphill very well.

    Thanks for the suggestions all! Please keep in mind those were Canadian dollars, so 3600 USD. I actually ended up going with the Pivot for a few reasons. 1. It lived in the BC interior where its dry, whereas the Rocky lived on the coast which we know really does a number to components. 2. the suspension on the Pivot was brand new, and tuned in California (seller was a Pivot rider with some sweet hookups). 3. the wheel set on the Pivot was too nice to pass up for the price.

    I did some shuttling yesterday to break it in and so far so good! It doesn't have the forgiveness in the rear but it's insanely poppy and playful.

    Thanks so much Kevin! I'm sure the Altitude would be a beast. If I don't like the Pivot this fall, I can always flip it for bigger sus bike in the spring. But so far so good!
