Monarch rt3. Running in Pedal vs Open

Fairly new to the game, but my bike has the Monarch rt3 rear shock. When riding on the pavement from my house to the trail I run it locked out. The majority of the time I run it in pedal mode as my trails are dirt with some rough sections. When it gets really rough I normally try to switch it to open, if I remember. Is there any issue with running the shock like this? It seems like on the smoother trails that the shock in pedal mode offers slightly more efficient pedal strokes, but the open is nice when the trail starts to get rough.

I do the same since my 140mm Trail bike will 'bob' if I fail to pedal smooth circles. I also like how my bike responds while in Pedal, if I push off a lip or log I get more air. I also run mid compression dampening on the fork. Then I will change and enjoy the plush of wide open. Paid for it and enjoy using it.
    oops I wasn't clipped in

No. It's designed to be used.

you're using it as designed and intended.

I prefer to leave mine open all the time, unless it's a smooth surface. It depends on what suspension design you're using. Used it all the time on my last bike though.

I hit jumps with mine in pedal mode all the time. It is not a problem. It just closed the low speed compression and everything goes through the high speed compression.
