    YMCA Bike Auction this Sat

It's that time of year again...

The annual YMCA bike auction is this Saturday May 12. Viewing begins at 9AM with the auction starting at 10. Hundreds of bikes to be auctioned off to the highest bidder. Many bids start at just $10. Admission is free and you can come and go any time. Auction usually finishes around 1pm.

If your bike has been stolen, you can check out the APD list and recover you bike from the YMCA any time before the auction. www.ymcaalaska.org

First the Triathlete.com link and now this...you're killing me, man! I have NO self-control. Can I get a link to Bike-aholics Anonymous or something?

You might gain some self-control after going to the bike auction. I went for the first time about three years ago, and I was aghast. I saw people spending $80 for beat-up bikes from Sprawl-Mart. It was shocking. If people are finding the smoking deals I've always heard about, there must be some secret.
Enjoying the meaningful pursuit of meaningless fun.

If it has that suspension coil-thingy on it, it must be a good bike, right?

Anything shiny with a shock brings in hundreds - it IS entertaining though.

    Warning.
Every year at Paramount we get people rolling and dragging in bikes from that auction and I have never seen one worth $10. Just be careful, maybe make a donation to the YMCA and forget the bike part.

Hehe! I saw one they pulled out of Westchester lagoon when I rode by today. I think it was stuck in there all winter by the looks of it.
