Hi all,

This will be my first winter commuting in Juneau. Rain, snow, slush, ice.

1) studs seem mandatory— no? Any Juneau / Anchorage / Valley riders have studs they'd like to part with? (I'll be up there for Christmas).

2) I have a steel cross bike. I don't expect the slushy, salty roads to be good for it. What should I be doing, maintenancewise? Is there something I should spray all over my cassette and inside my frame to protect it?

3) I use a front rack. I'm guessing I shouldn't weigh down the front wheel in snow; pull the rack and wear a pack instead?

4) Does anyone commute regularly to UAS and want to team up?

Thanks!
