Stolen red salsa Mukluk. Has multicam bags

    Hey folks,
My dads 2014 salsa Mukluk was stolen off his kuat rack. Cable cut. It has 45nrth Dillinger 4 studs, multicam oveja Negra bags everywhere. If you see it by chance on Craig's or Alaska or anywhere else please let me know or call my dad mike 9072509112
Or call police. Screen shot or link to the page if you see it. Really sucks.

    Thanks,
    Zach

A Salsa with studded tires just showed up on CL for $700 and a stock photo. Linky to the ad is below.

Doubt anyone would sell a bear grease for that much. That is a hell of a good tip. Thank you. Obviously the other add wanting is mine. Trying to bait them out. Doubt they would look here though.

Are you seeing 441 3009 for number? I have never seen that as an Anc number.

I know, it seems they used a stock photo of whatever came first when you Google Salsa Fatbike. And at that price, yes something is fishy.

Well I got pics. I am just about certain it is my dads bike. Looks like he may have been smart enough to change a few things. He took all the bags off. He sent a pic of a muk with d4's for 700 if for some reason it isn't my dads it is someone's.

Sounds like you are on it. I would definitely make sure to get my hands on the bike as soon as possible just to make sure someone else doesn't buy it first, then you may never track it down. Get a picture of the person, any identifying information such as address, vehicle license, etc... in the process of checking out the bike.

Well if this isn't my dads it is someone's. I am texting with the guy. My dads I think had red tape on chain stay. The light is what he had and he just put the dillingers.

I am in homer and my dad is in a meeting. Any of you in Anc want to play cop and go do the right thing and get this? Worse case you actually get a bike for 700 that is worth 2500.

I think that is my doing all good. Not sure if I should kill this thread. It shows up on google quickly but we shall see how quick Apd is.

I don't know if it is better for someone to go get it or let Apd sit on this.

Good luck, I know in the past APD hasn't been the most gelpful for things like this. On the other hand, it can get nasty and dangerous pretty quick for someone going to try to recover it.

Well that is what I am saying. I wonder what they will do. My dad is just leaving it to them. If anyone here wants the number they are welcome to go get it and hopefully the bags.

Well I sent the guy a message today and said do the right thing or else. He locked up the bike by fred Meyer on Muldoon and said come get it. Had a sob story of loosing his job. I said this isn't the way forward. So thank you all for the help. Moral of the story is nothing is safe in Anc.

So no help from APD.....not surprised. Even tho bike theft in Anchorage is a huge problem.

Never leave your bike unattended or out of site.

Nope just giving Google a little more info on (907) 441-3009 to let people know that the owner of this number was selling a stolen bike on Craigslist. Now if you search this number this is the first or second hit.

You want his name and address?

If that is his address, then it is a rental. I would be calling the owner of the rental to let him know what his renter is up to. According to Anchoragelive.com and the MOA property tax records, the owner is James Fitts (lives in a different location off of 67th Ave.).

So I'm curious what went down with APD? Sounds like you had fairly ample evidence?

I had plenty of evidence. So the bike is ruined. The guy ground down all the numbers on the bb and stamped and repainted over it. So clearly a bike chop shop.

Well this is for sure an outfit with some organization. They stole the bike off court property. The hammer is gonna come down.
